I am an Assistant Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York . My teaching includes interdisciplinary coursework (bridging Landscape, Architecture, and Urbanism), and in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Design. I also teach in design studios within the "core" and advise terminal projects and Theses.

My research addresses environmental ethics, environmental psychology, philosophy, and human geography. I am interested in the history and philosophies of science, ethics, technology, and design and how architecture consciously participates in forms of cultural production and the production of new cultures and practices. I am furthermore interested in speculative world-building projects that imagine "landscape-machine" relationships -- landscapes that generate architecture, and architecture that creates, shapes, and generates new forms of landscape.

In my work, I pursue research to deepen the collective's understanding of the range and emotional power of environmental imagery and representation and look to the compelling ability of storytelling to offer alternate perspectives on environmental aesthetics that might provoke hope and imagination about the future of landscapes and ecologies.

My work is inspired and motivated by the work of a number of individuals, friends and colleagues, including Ed Eigen, Lorraine Daston, Elaine Stokes, Andreea Vasile Hoxha, Rawan Al Saffar, Weaam Al Abdullah, Jeremy Kamal Hartley, Hannah Gaengler, William Virgil, Samantha Solano, Alberto deSalvatierra, Zannah Matson, Evan Douglis, Rhett Russo, Mae-ling Lokko, Susan Herrington, Chris Perry and Cathryn Dwyer, Max Liboiron, Ursula le Guin, Eva Franch, Diane Scherer -- and more.

Thank you.
